An Objective View Of The World Cup

From a non-football fan, who just reads the news.

Whenever I read anything about FIFA in the news, I have a specific mental image that comes to mind, born of years of being subjected to surreal events and press releases from that particular ruling body.

I imagine them dictating carefully selected words between sips of the finest champagne flowing from sumptuous crystal flutes, all whilst relaxing in luxurious foaming hot tubs, barely visible behind the glittering bubbles¹.

Whilst the fans themselves swig lukewarm lager from cans in the rain.

From such a position it’s easy to put the game first, isn’t it?

¹A bit like the old Imperial Leather advert from the 1970s
