At the end of the say it's up to the employer to stand their ground, but that's often easier said than done because of the ramifications of not being perceived as 'giving 100%' or 'being committed to the company vision' or other such HR micro aggressions.
Laptops, as commuting was, and as 'celebrating company values' and 'faux-wellbeing programs' are right now are just facets of the same problem imho.
