Great read. I have very strong opinions on management myself and am always interested In the perspective of other people in the software engineering industry.

In my own experience the primary sources of irritation are non-technical managers interfering with technical decisions, naming arbitrary dates for milestones/releases/anything, and making decisions on behalf of a group instead of with them.
