There is a modern day management belief that closure must be sought on many things — especially conflict in the workplace (something us developers would call ‘disagreement’ but hey, we don’t go on ‘conflict management’ courses do we).

Perhaps the seeking of closure by management is a way to abrogate themselves of responsibility for you deciding to leave. Fitting, somehow.
