Seriously, though, good point — a good developer may often taken one for the team by agreeing to take on management tasks for the needs of the many, as it were.

But, as you rightly say, it can often be a thankless task.

(Accidental management, Progression Syndrome, or perhaps effective altruism often get people kicked upstairs to the prevalently non-technical tiers)
