I’m definitely aiming at those in the management layer that waltz in waving their self-certification and believe that, because of that bit of paper, they’re immediate experts in pretty much everything to do with people and projects.

It’s so annoying, say, if you’re a developer and someone’s airdropped in and think they know all of the answers right off the bat. Worse, they often dismiss anything they don’t understand (but that’s another story) are unwilling to listen to detail, and general manage to alienate everybody immediately.

Respect, as you rightly say, is earned but unfortunately there are still those that hang on to the past belief that it’s a certificate given right.
