I’m dismayed when I see an interesting opportunity and a recruiter or first stage hiring manager says “Just complete the HackerRank test” and I’ll get back to you.
Sometimes they will ‘graciously’ skip it if you’ve the motivation to press them but then often find what was a ‘technical’ interview at the next stage is just another ‘live coding’ exercise. D’oh!
Seriously, people, if you want experienced engineers stop doing this — we just go somewhere else where the tedium is lower and they put more effort into ascertaining actual ability.
