I'm optimistic in the long run.

Whether people agree in practicality to their EVs behind discharged to power the grid (and the subsequent recharging time and degradation in battery capacity involved) remains to be seen.

Perhaps local Tesla PowerWall batteries and local PV generation combined with EVs is a better solution but many people don't have the space or access to street level facilities if they're in apartments.

There are an awful lot of questions to be addressed when rollout goes beyond early adopters and the well-off or, perhaps, as we're seeing now when government subsidies are withdrawn.
