Indeed, I totally agree, but the public charging infrastructure is both fragmented and sparse — and I’m speaking primarily of the UK and Ireland here.

I’d be the first in the queue when they become affordable, as I mentioned in another response. It’s great they have so many advantages, but more needs to be done to make them practicable and a day to day thing.
