It's desperately sad that in the modern world, most especially software engineering as that's where I'm coming from, that we have to play someone else's game just to get recognised for our contributions.
If anything I'd expect others to step up, to learn how we work, and to make an effort to understand us engineers rather than us having to play the 'ask questions', 'contribute more', and be more like other people game.
It makes me wonder what management actually does if not try to understand its people?
