I've had similar issues with an external display not being recognised or coming back with the wrong resolutions when powered off and then on again connected to an M1 iMac bit that's about it, everything else seems pretty rock solid.

The fix for the above was disconnecting and reconnecting it. Seems like a software issues to me.
