I've never heard of that during Brezhnev's rule, and it's a good analogy for sure.
What I'm trying to highlight is that it's fine and dandy to have new names for things, especially if they didn't exist before, but we've no need to continually rename things without good reason.
I think that, for example, companies love to make up new worlds (like fintech for banking software) to sound sexy and appealing to investors but they're not, really fooling anyone aside from those who have no knowledge of the industry at all (so why are they investing in it? that's another question).
It's getting hard to keep up with this continual renaming!
