I've seen successful battery swapping in South East Asia, but for moped. It requires significant infrastructure and co-ordination and I don't think that EV battery swapping is practical as it would cost money, take organisation, and occupy a lot of space.
Perhaps with trucks and buses, but for domestic vehicles I just can't see it.
Thing is, it's great to say if you "charge and home" and "rarely exceed your range" but not everyone can charge at home. Most early adopters have the room, but the general population doesn't. Add to that we all have unforeseen problems and can't guarantee, for sure, that we just won't need to do a journey that exceeds our range.
