Perhaps I’m just a diehard pedant. Hmmm. No, I just can’t be doing with those tatty low qualify loose leaf pads — as I say give me squares, gel pens, hard covers! It’s a hill I’ll die on.

Semi-seriously, though, I am concerned about how companies spend on frivolous non-essential items like coloured posters, ping pong tables, and fake pot plants when essential stuff like decent stationery and writing implements are left to languish. It’s hardly going to break the bank to spend €3 on a decent gel pen rather than 20c on some generic no-brand biro.

I take my personal comforts very seriously, so if two companies are doing similar work, it could be what swings the deal…
