Same here. I prefer contracting as it’s more straightforward in many ways than for a permanent position — you’re hired directly for your skills and if it pans out that you’re not up to scratch you’re let go.

If you’re pretending then your C.V. looks like a series of very short, maximum 3 month, positions and everyone knows what kind of engineer you are. I can spot them a mile off now…
