Stack ranking is a disease that stalks the software industry and anyone aspiring to do great work would do best to avoid any company that uses this disgraceful system no matter their brand, size, or popularity.

As for Amazon, well, I've been there and I won't say too much but suffice it to say that average recruitment age is low and turnover is high for a reason.

Sometimes, thanks for stack ranking - and Amazon aren't the only company at this - even though you're a great engineer if you're in a high performing team it's inevitable due to their management practices and no fault of your own.

I've seen engineers transfer to low performing teams just to get a better review, not volunteer vital information so that they can personally succeed while projects burn, and engineers be mentally broken by this process. It's the Hunger Games and it's immoral.
