Thanks Adam, great points.

It's more the pointless technical tests that regurgitate the same old textbook problems that I'm grinding my axe against.

They also do tend to be used when the person interviewing doesn't have the technical ability to be conducting the interview and they rely on the tick box approach to gauging abilities.

The paid home project type I personally wouldn't consider unless I'm paid for my time or it's SpaceX offering me a job :)
