I think you’re absolutely spot on with employee’s viewing companies retention rates and suchlike — it’s far less about employers now and much more about employees.

I don’t want to work for a company just because of their name or perceived reputation — I want to see what they’re going to do for me personally, how much I’m going to get paid, what my opportunities are, I’d want to speak to the existing developers in confidence, and most importantly what I’m going to be working on day to day.
