That would most definitely be an ideal world and the best solution for sure.

I hear from some people I know in the energy markets that getting even two neighbouring countries to just trade electricity is a bureaucratic nightmare, let alone the whole world, and that's not counting transmission losses, synchronisation, or anything technical.

It'd be fun though, wouldn't it, to have these super massive trains hurtling past. I'd go see them :)
