That's just so common, you hit the nail on the head - how many times during a performance review or just an offhand HR/Management comment say something like,
"your work is great but..."
"you just need to join in more"
"you need to get your face seen"
"you need to speak up more to be heard"
"you need to raise your profile"
or worse
"you need to work on your soft skills"
I mean, come on, I'm here for my <insert skillset here> not for my elbowing into meetings, jumping higher than everyone else to get notices, and being the loudest singer in the choir!
