Invaders from Afar

I’d define a ‘Killer App’, personally, as something that comes along rarely and the advent of which changes the whole computing industry substantially either due to its incredibly usefulness itself or the paradigm¹ shifting change it has on everything coming after it.

Old timers, such as myself, would remember Visicalc being the killer app of the Apple II that not only was incredibly successful on that platform but also subsequently led on to incredible changes in the development of spreadsheet software².

Similarly, elderly gamers that still hang on in games such as Overwatch³ such as myself may recall the Atari 2600 implementation of Taito’s Space Invaders being the must have game that propelled the console to its stellar heights during a similar period in time.

Once in a while something comes along that just hits the nail on the head when it comes to some new software or hardware implementation and accelerates almost a new kind of thinking altogether.

Ripe for Disruption

I have to admit, I really dislike the word disruption when it comes to its common use in the modern world such as that as we’ve all been suffering…
