Hobbling the medium of communication for control and profit?!

“Image generated using OpenAI’s DALL·E.”

I am getting a little bit worried that I’m falling into some kind of conspiracy trap. I sometimes see the dots coalescing, the stars aligning (Cthulhu F’htagn!), and am really beginning to see the whole corporate hierarchy in a different, wholly conspiratorial, way.

Unfortunately, what I really should be concentrating on is seeing through The Matrix instead of becoming drawn into it and pulled along perpetually like a Jira ticket in a swim lane.

And no, it’s not because of the failing of the ‘tap to pay’ systems at Sainsbury’s, Tescos, and now Greggs (modern bastion of the UK high street¹) as a precursor to L’effendremont. Not that at all, we have a few years left yet I think and there’s always that hope that true AGI will save us and not some neutered LLM that thinks Elvis is still alive, agile is a step forward in software development, and that Bill Gates actually helped the software industry in some way.

It’s actually because the way we communicate within the Grand Game of Software Engineering has gradually evolved to be something that IngSoc would very likely have set up for themselves, should they have had their own software development department.
