Unfortunately that's not always possible in retrospect, indeed many companies just forced people to work from home during the pandemic without changes to their contract.

Unfortunately I can't see the corporate powers extending the same accommodation when it doesn't favour them so I guess the only way is to quit, find a company that supports the way you work, and pays the wage you require.

Hopefully, over time, the attrition of talent will grind the old management practices into the dust they deserve.
