Written semi-humorously and from experience, yes.

I’ve witnessed people leaving for all sorts of reasons, as I have myself, but from what I’ve been told and have experienced people tend to be ‘nice’ at exit interviews so’s not to offend the company that they’re leaving (if they’re not leaving because they hate it — then it really can go either way).

I have so little respect for companies in general and leaders in particular who allow their employees to become so frustrated, stressed, bored, or just underpaid that allow things to get to the stage of them having to leave.

Their management has failed.

If I leave because I feel like it, fine, I’ll say so but I won’t have an exit interview about it.

If I leave because a company failed me I won’t have an exit interview either because they failed me, I don’t owe them anything in improving their process as they had all of the time before I decided to leave to do so.

To be fair, I just have an enormous grudge against bad management.
